Web Designer, Educator, Fix-It Guy
Hey, I’m Robert Whyte. I’m a web designer based in Southern New Jersey, USA. I have 10+ years web-design experience. My primary focus is on front-end web design and html/css. I have been working for design agencies and larger marketing/advertising firms for over a decade. My business is centered in the New Jersey-Philadelphia area.
I began my career change in the early-90′s going from bridge construction to CADD to graphic+web design. Owning my own construction business and working for other companies in very large projects has helped me understand the design business. Planning, overcoming adversity, and team work are all traits I had, but now really see they are not just valuable, but the way things actually are.
If I’m not building web and print stuff for my clients I’m busy teaching. I have been adjunct faculty/professor for many higher-education institutions in the greater Philadelphia area for over a decade.
- Philadelphia University
- Rutgers University – Camden Campus
- Moore College of Art & Design
- Camden County College
I generally stay focused on teaching Web Design for both grad and under-grad, but have taught everything from general Computer Graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Quark) to Advanced Photoshop to Electronic Imaging to the Undergraduate Senior Capstone Project. Being an educator keeps me humble and forces me to stay current with technology in a different way than clients do. I’ve been lucky to have had some stellar students throughout the years.
Right now I’m taking a few traditional studio art classes at Rowan University and spending time with my wife and partner Kristen while we raise 2 great teenagers and work on our home.
I am always open to discussing new business or partnering opportunities. My slimmed-down portfolio site will give you an idea where my heads at. Contact me to talk design, project partnering or design business.
